S&P 500 Forecast for Monday, December 20, 2021

Updated: Oct 3, 2022

Theme:

Satiety. A decline from a peak that has a moment in overbought territory.

Around the High:

A push to the upside.

Around the Low:

A period of volatility with a sharp dip in the midst.

Overview:

There is a sharp decline at the open from a high to a low. The low takes place around 10am, give or take ten minutes on either side. There is a move higher to possibly the month’s high, but this high is definitely within this week. I am selling some of my calls around the close, selling against them, buying more, and then selling, all during back and forth. There is an unexpected failure at the open and an opportunity to open long positions around 10am. We go higher from 10am to 11am. We move higher, still, from 11am to noon. Around 12pm to 1pm, I can sell calls and buy puts. As the market turns around, we reach another low for the day around 2pm. We have a push off of that low, turning resistance into support. The support doesn’t hold long, and toward the close we go from a high and drop through two support and bounce before dropping through more.

Sneak Preview:

Futility, so a big push out of a decline or a scary situation.
